Red Bells

My sister, Ann, cherishes the memory of our Granny counting the Red Bells (hibiscus flowers) in her yard every day from the front verandah in Belize City. A few summers ago, we went to visit her, and it was on that trip that I felt a deep connection to my Gran’s beloved Red Bells.

The flower I include most often in my art pieces is the Red Bell, said to signify female beauty and positivity; qualities I have always endeavored to portray in my quilted wall hangings and my ceramic pieces.

The women that adorn my art are graceful, strong and free in each other’s company and in the nature that surrounds them.
