How it all got started

I’ve been thinking so much about my Granny. 103 years old! And so present!

When I started making quilted wall art, she was the main character in the piece that inspired me to continue producing these quilted art creations. You see, I had wanted to make a bed quilt with images of Ndebele women painting murals on their walls. That quilt was never made. Instead, inspired by the batik creations of Ugandan artist, Paul Nzalamba, I ended up making quilted wall hangings that featured women of African descent working and celebrating life.

Years later when I started to make pottery seriously, I realized that as much as I loved to spend time hand-quilting my pieces, I also loved to spend time drawing and painting on the bisqueware, marrying the shape and size of each vase, bowl, jar with the most fitting colors and designs. Art is ever evolving.
